Pope Benedict XV had this to say just before World War I.

“Let the Princes and Rulers of peoples remember this truth, and let them consider whether it is a prudent and safe idea for governments or for states to separate themselves from the holy religion of Jesus Christ, from which their authority receives such strength and support.  Let them consider again and again, whether it is a measure of political wisdom to see to divorce the teaching of the Gospel and the Church from the ruling of a country and from the public education of the young. Sad experience proves that human authority fails where religion is set aside.”

We Need Your Help!

May 22, 2012

We want to thank you again for your faithful support of our ministry.  The Lord has given us a mandate to build the Body of Christ through our Ministry.  Through your donations, you have been part of our Evangelization.  Whether you are a Production Angel, a monthly donor, or donate whenever you can, you have helped to make this possible.

There is a war going on!  Pope Benedict XVI has warned us not to let the enemy make Christ disappear from the face of the earth.

We need your helpWe must fight together to keep Our Lord Jesus, Our Mother Mary, the Saints and the Angels alive!  We can do this together!  We must do this together!

We are taking the Pope’s mandate to heart and joining the battle.

We have created a great awareness of the power of Jesus in the Eucharist through our books “This is My Body, This Is My Blood, Miracles of the Eucharist” and our television programs on the Miracles of the Eucharist on EWTN.

Prior to our introducing the books and TV programs, no one had ever heard about Miracles of the Eucharist.  We brought these Miracles to the world with our books and DVDs and weekly TV programs.

We have given Our Mother Mary a voice through her Apparitions, in our two books, and DVDs and our television programs on EWTN:

“The Many Faces of Mary, a Love Story”

We have created an awareness of the Saints, many of whom you knew nothing about, with our SuperSaints books and television programs.  We have close to 200 programs on the Saints.  We keep adding Saints to our SuperSaints series.  The Saints have become Role Models not only for Catholics, but for Christians of all denominations.

We believe that the Saints will unite all Christians.  There is a war going on between Christianity and the forces of evil.  We have to continue to bring Catholics and all Christians together to fight the real enemy.

The Lord has given us a new way to reach brothers and sisters who are new to our Ministry, the Internet.  Our books are available all over the world through the new digital e-book format.  Our videos are available in digital format for “Video on Demand” and DVD viewing.

You have written we must continue to do this.  Our Lord has begun broadening the horizon of our Ministry all over the world.  Brothers and sisters from theUnited Statesto Europe to Africa, Asia,AustraliaandNew Zealandare being given ammunition to fight the enemy!  They have begun to be exposed to the gifts of the Lord which had only been available in our country.

Our financial situation is bleak.  We have a new important book to print, and need money to print it.  This book is about our Popes in Hard Times and, like our dear Pope Benedict XVI, the battles they faced.  We need to know that what is happening today has happened before.

Only today, we can join His Holiness and the Church in fighting the battle.

For our children and grandchildren, we must fight the good fight to win.

You have told us how much you love what we are doing!  We need money necessary to continue making programs, writing books, printing the Good Newsletter, as well as formatting our material into the digital formats needed to spread the Good News throughout the world.

You believe in our work.  There is no way we can continue to spread God’s Word over the horizon without your help!  Won’t you once again join the march!  This is the worst of times!  This is the best of times!

As before, we have problems; but we can together, win the fight for Jesus and His Church!  Please donate the best you can.  Be a Production Angel.  Be a monthly donor.  Donate as much as you can whenever you can.  You and your families are in our daily prayers.  May God bless you and keep you.  We need you!  We love you!

Your Family in Christ,

Bob and Penny Lord, Brother Joseph and Luz Elena

The War Is On!

April 26, 2012

THE WAR IS ON

Family, we are under attack.  Not only our Catholic Church is being attacked, but any ministry connected with the Catholic Church is under attack.  Just today,

YOU TUBE HAS CANCELED ALL VIDEO CLIPS OF BOB AND PENNY LORD.

That means that from now on, you will not be able to access our videos on YouTube.

Being a free service offered by Google, they have the right to terminate you without recourse.

You will have to access our website directly, http://www.bobandpennylord.com  go to http://gloria.tv instead.

We believe this is just the beginning.  The Powers of Darkness, and all those associated with it, have been attacking Christianity in recent years, and is now accelerating.

With the attack on Catholic and Christian institutions, the gloves have been taken off, and it’s all-out war any Christian organization.

We must join forces against the enemy.  We must stick together.  Any of you who have been on the fence about what has been happening must make a decision to stand with us, or fall.

We love you.  God bless you./

“We must stand up and defend our right to religious freedom!”

April 17, 2012

Bob and I read this statement by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and we were so filled with the Holy Spirit and love for our country and for our Church, we could not rest until we sent this to you and prayed you would read the bishops’ entire statement, for yourself.  We thought we knew the history of our country, but after reading this statement, we find ourselves hungering to know more – and more- and more! What you see before you are just some small excerpts from the entire statement.  We pray you will be touched as we were and read on – and on- and on!  If you would like a copy of the whole statement issued by the bishops, just let us know and we will be most happy to e-mail it to you.

The word the Lord has been giving us, for the longest time, is – We must unite, one Cross, one Flag, one body of Christ, one Book, one Bible, one truth from God!  We do not remember reading anything like this attack on our First Amendment, in all our years as first children, then as husband and wife, then as grandparents.  Where were these truths so important to the future of our country and our life?  We have had the gift to travel to the four corners of the world, and we have loved all our brothers and sisters abroad, and the places we have researched; but the great truth we came away with is – we are Americans – and we have it the best!

Then we started to study!  What has made our country so precious!  And the more we study, here and abroad, the more we find out why we have come away with this great love for our country.  We want our children and our grandchildren, and those who follow, to learn what their country is about and what has made it so.  There have been times when we wanted to run to another country; but with all due respect, even with her faults, theUnited Statesis the best in the whole world.

The religious freedom the bishops speak of does not affect solely the Catholic Church, and all other Religions, it affects all our freedoms under the Bill of Rights.  It is that which our fathers and grandfathers left everything behind to come to our land of the free; and we have been that land of freedom for the last 200 years.  It is what our brothers and sisters fought for in foreign lands, some losing their lives and others coming home a shadow of their former selves.  We refuse to accept they fought and died for nothing!

At least when a baseball game is about to begin, we can hear our children cry out it is time to salute the flag and sing the National Anthem.  We cannot chime in without seeing our fathers and mothers and grandparents, before us, proudly saluting the flag and/or pressing their hands lovingly on their hearts.  We cannot lose our rights!!  Our families paid too high a price for these freedoms!

X

I would like to take this time to share with you parts of the bishops’ “Statement on Religious Liberty.”

“It is by no accident that when the Bill of Rights was ratified, religious freedom had the distinction of being the First Amendment.  Religious liberty is indeed the first liberty.  We must stand up and defend our right to religious freedom, under the First Amendment, which guarantees that Congress will make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

“Recently, in a unanimous Supreme Court judgment affirming the importance of that first freedom, the Chief Justice of the United Statesexplained that religious liberty is not just the first freedom for Americans; rather it is the first in the history of democratic freedom, tracing its origins back to the first clauses of the Magna Carta of 1215 and beyond.

“Chief Justice Roberts illustrated our history of religious liberty in light of a Catholic issue decided upon by James Madison, who guided the Bill of Rights through Congress and is known as the architect of the First Amendment.

“That is our American heritage, our most cherished freedom.  It is the first freedom because if we are not free in our conscience and our practice of religion, all other freedoms are fragile.  If citizens are not free in their own consciences, how can they be free in relation to others, or to the state?  If our obligations and duties to God are impeded, or even worse, contradicted by the government, then we can no longer claim to be a land of the free, and a beacon of hope for the world.

“In his famous ‘Letter from Birmingham Jail’ in 1963, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. boldly said, ‘The goal ofAmerica is freedom.’  As a Christian pastor, he argued that to callAmerica to the full measure of that freedom was the specific contribution Christians are obliged to make.  He rooted his legal and constitutional arguments about justice in the long Christian tradition:

‘I would agree with Saint Augustinethat an unjust law is no law at all.’  Now        what is the difference between the two?  How does one determine when a law is   just or unjust?  A just law is a man-made code that squares with the moral law or             the law of God.  An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral             law.  To put it in the terms of Saint Thomas Aquinas, an unjust law is a human       law that is not rooted in eternal law and natural law.’[1]

“It is a sobering thing to contemplate our government enacting an unjust law.  An unjust law cannot be obeyed.  In the face of an unjust law, an accommodation is not to be sought, especially by resorting to equivocal words and deceptive practices. If we face today with the prospect of unjust laws, then Catholics inAmerica, in solidarity with our fellow citizens, must have the courage not to obey them.  No American welcomes it.  But if it should fall upon us, we must discharge it as a duty of citizenship and an obligation of faith.

“The Christian church does not ask for special treatment, simply the rights of religious freedom for all citizens.  Rev. King also explained that the church is neither the master not the servant of the state, but its conscience, guide, and critic.

“The Lord Jesus came to liberate us from the dominion of sin.  Together with our fellow Christians, joined by our Jewish brethren, and in partnership with Americans of other religious traditions, we affirm that our faith requires us to defend the religious liberty granted us by God and protected in our Constitution.

“What we ask is nothing more than that our God-given right to religious liberty be respected.  We ask nothing less than that the Constitution and laws of the United States, which recognize that right, be respected.

“In insisting that our liberties as Americans be respected, we know, as bishops, that what our Holy Father said is true.  This work belongs to ‘an engaged, articulate and well- formed Catholic laity endowed with a strong critical sense vis-à-vis the dominant culture.’

“There is an urgent need for the lay faithful, in cooperation with Christians, Jews and others, to impress upon our elected representatives the importance of continued protection of religious liberty in a free society.  We address a particular word to those holding office.  It does not serve the common good to treat the good works of religious believers as a threat to our common life; to the contrary, they are essential to its proper functioning.  It is also your task to protect and defend those fundamental liberties guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.

“Our country deserves the best we have to offer, including our resistance to violations of our first freedom.

A fortnight for Freedom

“Both our civil year and liturgical year point us on various occasions to our heritage of freedom.   Our liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of persecution by political power – St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More,St. Johnthe Baptist, SS. Peter and Paul, and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome.  We suggest that the fourteen days from June 21- the vigil of the Feasts of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More – to July 4, Independence Day be a special period of prayer, study, and catechesis which would culminate in a great national celebration of Christian and American heritage of religious liberty.

“The bishops also invite everyone to join them in an urgent prayer for religious liberty;”

“Almighty God, Father of all nations,

For freedom you have set us free in Christ Jesus (Gal 5:1)

We praise and bless you for the gift of religious liberty,

the foundation of human rights, justice and the common good.

Grant to our leaders the wisdom to protect and promote our liberties;

By your grace may we have the courage to defend them, for ourselves and for all

those who live in this blessed land.

We ask this through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, our patroness,

and in the name of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in the unity  of the Holy Spirit,

with whom you live and reign, one God, for ever and ever.  Amen

Celebrate Saint Joseph’s Altar With Us

March 9, 2012

Dear Family:

That time has come again, when we give special honor to St. Joseph.  We really want you to be here with us for our annual St. Joseph’s Table.  But, you may say, “What’s the big deal?” and “Why do we have to have a special devotion to St. Joseph?”  There are many reasons.  One which affects all of us is that St.   Joseph is the patron of a happy death.

And this is only one of the many devotions and special miracles attributed to his intercession.

Our Special Saints and Powerful Men and Women have all had a devotion to St. Joseph.

But some in particular are:

St. Brother Andre ofMontreal

Brother Andre had such a devotion toSt. Josephthat

he built an Oratory inMontrealin honor ofSt. Joseph.

Whenever those in need came to Brother Andre

for a miracle, he always referred them to St. Joseph!

St. Teresa of Avila had a great devotion toSt. Joseph.

She named her first convent afterSt. Joseph.

She said he never let her down.

She made it a practice to place a statue of Santo Nino

and one of St. Joseph in each of the 18 houses she founded.

Mother Angelica has always had a great devotion toSt.   Joseph.

She gives credit to St. Joseph for all the good things that have happened to her.

Mother has unceasingly turned to him for his intercession,

believing Jesus has always had a special devotion to His foster father.

Bob and Penny, along with Luz and Brother Joseph, unceasingly turn to St. Joseph “St. Joseph has never let us down.  No matter what we ask for, if it’s good for our souls, he helps us to get it.”

The Holy House you will see on our grounds here at Holy Family Mission

are because of St. Joseph’s intercession.

We want you to be among those who can say

St.   Joseph is their special Saint.

Come and celebrate St. Joseph’s Table on March 17,

at Holy Family Mission.

Everyone is welcome!  Bring family and friends.

Show me the Power!!

March 8, 2012

Brothers and sisters, we have to get down on our knees and pray. The Catholic Bishops have taken a firm stand. They’re so upset about our Right to Religious Freedom, a First Amendment right, being taken away from the Church that they’re willing to close down all Catholic institutions rather than back down from this obvious unconstitutional abuse by the Federal Government. According to an article in Catholic Culture.org, the leaders of the Church have been denied their rights by two branches of the Government, The Executive which has obviously brought about this problem in the first place, The Legislative – in the form of the Senate, which has struck down a law which would have blocked the Obama mandate. The Judicial – this seems to be the only option left to the Bishops of the United States in having this mandate declared unconstitutional. If that fails, their only option is to make good on their threat to shut down all Catholic employment of any kind. Let me tell you what we’re talking about here. Part of Obamacare, (remember Nancy Pelosi – Let’s sign it and then we’ll find out what’s in it.) states that all religious employers will have to provide and pay for all forms of contraception to their employees, including the Day after abortion pill, Birth control pill, and all forms of contraception. Well, that’s completely against our Faith belief, our religion. And yet we’ve been told, you not only must do it; you must pay for it or be penalized for it. Well, the Church just can’t do this. So after having struck out with two branches of our government, and being on hold with the third, and after much prayer and consultation, our Bishops have made the decision that rather than compromise our faith and morals, we will have no choice but to close down all Catholic Institutions. What does that mean? Close Catholic hospitals, which is a huge problem. I read this article on EWTN’s website, written by a journalist from Fiscal Times that gives just a few of the statistics of what will happen when the Bishops, who are all united in this, close the hospitals down. The cost of shutting down the hospitals would be approximately $100 Billion dollars. The immediate result would be the loss of 120,000 beds. Can you picture that? You think things are bad now in our hospital system? Think about how it would be if we lost 120,000 beds. The journalist drew statistics from the Catholic Health Association of the United States. Catholic hospitals represent 12.6% of all the hospitals in the United States. 15.6% of hospital admissions, 14.5% of hospital expenses. ($98.6 Billion in 2010) Catholic hospitals employ more than 500,000 people. A closure in the hospitals would cause an immediate surge in unemployment. But that’s not the end of the story. In addition, they’re talking about closing down Catholic schools, universities, newspapers, radio and television outlets like EWTN, Our Sunday Visitor, National Catholic Register, Ignatius Press, Catholic Charities and on and on. There is no way to determine the full extent of the damage that would be done, not only to Catholics, but to Christians as well. Just the income lost from the massive closure of these religious entities is staggering. The unemployment would rise much greater than the 500,000 mentioned above in the closure of the hospitals. So what do you think?

Are the Bishops being unreasonable in their demands that the Federal government keep their hands off our rights to religious freedom? Clearly, the stand they are taking will have a devastating effect on the economy of our country, especially if the Bishops put their plan into effect this year. On the other hand, was it reasonable for the president and senators to trample on our First Amendment rights? I mean, we’ve never had an attack against our religion like this before in this country. And are they willing to stir up this hornet’s nest in an election year? Many people feel that we should just let this go. The reward is not worth the price. We should just appease the Administration, and maybe that will be the end of it. Strangely enough, 76 years ago yesterday, 7 March 1936, Hitler sent troops into the Rhineland, on the strong belief that no one would stop him and he was right. They let it happen. It was just the beginning, but the powers of Europe felt if they just appeased him and let it go, that would be the end of it. Well, we all know how that worked out!!. So what is the answer? The only thing I can tell you for sure is that we have had some very powerful enemies of the Church before, many who went out of their way to try to destroy us, and they’re gone, and we’re still here. We won the battle of Lepanto against outrageous odds by praying the Rosary. We beat off soldiers in tanks in Manila in 1986 by little ladies standing up against them with the Rosary. St. Clare of Assisi was able to turn back an entire army of Saracens who wanted to raid her convent in San Damiano by holding up a monstrance with the Blessed Sacrament. Josef Stalin asked the Pope how many battalions he had. You know where Stalin is today. Where is the real power? It’s in the prayer. Pray for our Church. Pray for our Bishops. Pray for our country. Then leave it up to God. He’s always in charge. We love you.

Do You Believe in Prophecies??

March 7, 2012

I’m not Jewish, so please believe I have no ulterior motive for what I’m about to share with you. I looked at our calendar for today, and it said “Purim.” My daughter asked me what did Purim mean, and so I looked for it on the Internet. The reference I’m going to share with you comes from Judaism101:Purim. The author states that Purim is one of the most joyous and fun holidays of the Jewish calendar. I come from the Hunts Point section of the Bronx, which, 60 years ago, was very Jewish, and yet I’ve never heard of this holiday. So I delved further. This is where I believe the Prophecy comes in.

In the book of Esther, it is written: “In the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, on its thirteenth day…on the day that the enemies of the Jews were expected to prevail over them, it was turned about: the Jews prevailed over their enemies.” – Esther 9:1 “And they gained relief on the fourteenth (day), making it a day of feasting and gladness.” – Esther 9:17 That feast is called Purim. The significance is that it recalls the defeat of a plot to exterminate the Jews. Now here’s how the story unfolds. Esther was a Jew living in Persia (Iran) in the home of the King of Persia as his queen. The king didn’t know she was Jewish. Her cousin Mordecai, who had raised her was being threatened by a very evil man, Haman, who was the advisor to the king. Mordecai would not bow down to Haman. So Haman was going to destroy all the Jews in Persia. The king gave his okay to this. Remember, he didn’t know that Esther was Jewish, and he loved her very much. To make a long story short, Mordecai convinced Esther to go to the king and tell him what Haman was planning. The king sympathized with Esther and the Jews and the plot was thwarted. Haman was hung along with his sons. Thus brought about a feast which was called “Purim”.

Today, March 7 at sundown, begins Purim in the Jewish tradition. I probably would not have paid too much attention to the feast if it were not for the accelerating tension building between Israel and the United States regarding Iran, modern day Persia, and the threat by their president to destroy all of Israel. And the UN believes Iran is building nuclear bomb capabilities.

Last weekend, Netanyahu and Obama had a meeting. He told Netanyahu that the US had Israel’s back. On Tuesday, yesterday, Obama clarified that he did not mean that he had Israel’s back militarily. So tensions are growing. Netanyahu does not feel so secure about our support for Israel. And yesterday would be the day in history when the Persian who wanted to destroy the Jews was thwarted. Could it be that God has a hand in what is happening?

The reason I mention this so emphatically, is because in the Judaism101 account of Purim, they mention an incident in 1953, where Josef Stalin was going to deport all the Jews in the Soviet Union to Siberia, and the day after the feast of Purim, Stalin suffered a fatal heart attack. The deportation never came about. Coincidence? I don’t think so. We only believe in Holy Coincidence. Is God speaking to His people? Is God in charge? Are the Israelis our brothers and sisters?

Can we help them? We sure can. How do we help them? Pray! The power is always in the prayer. And if you live in a state where there is a strong Jewish population, you might give your congressman or senator a call or e-mail. Tell them you want us to help Israel. We love you!!
